new summer dress
Mandy's got herself a new summer frock. Jenny's still waiting around, in her dark brown tights, for hers. I'm going to make hers out of a pink Nani Iro print. Won't they look cute. First I need to go back to that garage sale I hit this morning and grab the cutie doll bed I passed on for them to hang out in. Why do I ever pass on things at a garage sale? I will without fail obsess for weeks when I pass something by. A lesson I can't seem to learn. I did grab some LPs for the boy though. Score!

all the fashionable girls are wearing moccasins these days

I'm indulging in a little "just because" sewing this week and then it'll be back to business. I'll post next week about near future pattern plans. In the meantime I've decided the only way I can justify buying more japanese fabric is to use up some of what I've got so it's time to take a deep breath and start cutting. Miss Kitty's dress is from the wonderful folkiness Jen sent me. And Miss Kitty herself is made from this awesome thick soft cotton flannel I found at the quilt shop called woolies by maywood studio. It was all I could do to not buy every color they had. I may need to go back. Oh, and kitty is a smaller version of Buttercup & Sunshine. I'm trying to do a better job of putting in all the details like I used to... you know before I had all these kids ;)

vintage doll clothes
I took photos of a few more items from my mom's doll clothes collection. Aren't they so sweet. And they bring back so many memories. I was clicking around on flickr looking for a vintage doll clothes group and didn't see one so I started one up. If you have any great vintage doll clothes hanging around, grab your camera! I love flickr. It so satisfies the collector in me. Here's the group... Vintage Doll Clothes.

2 legit 2 quit
I love when business expense covers something more fun than stamps or mailers!

yes, I realize there is a disturbing trend going on here. and yes, I am embarassed. I don't know how this stuff gets in my head.

new babies
we have two new babies in the neighborhood. after trying all the local baby boutiques for cute gifts and coming up empty I turned to my friend janice who is a freezer paper stencil superhero.

wee girl barrettes
Wee girls for the big girls. These barrettes are for some bigger girls on my list. Phoebe's temporarily off barrettes until she gets that they're not food.

purples
Almost the entire month of April has been spent in big laborious, stressy, behind-the-scenes, long shot sort of enterprises. I'm ready for a break! The weather has been beautiful and yesterday I took Oscar & Phoebe to the park. Me! Not my babysitter, not Grandma, but me. It was lovely. I have a few more things to finish up and then it'll be on to...well, I guess sitting and thinking about what it'll be on to. That will be lovely too. And it might be purple related. Not generally a fan but I have been digging on lavender and its friends lately. I think it's because Phoebe looks so pretty in it.

they did it!
Olive and Archie's make-a-long tale is complete! A year or so late but who's counting ;) The last sewing pattern was supposed to be pj's for Olive and Archie but since I couldn't even reproduce them myself I figured a pattern wasn't such a hot idea. Sorry! But honestly, you'd hate me if I tempted you to make button up pjs for a doll with no shoulders!
**oh man, fast and sloppy blogging today. sorry! that other thing that was up here wasn't supposed to be but was supposed to stay down there.

excitement!
First I was so excited to see Kim has a new blog, True Up, devoted entirely to fabric. Woo! But then how even crazily more excited am I about her current post about the new custom fabric printing outfit Spoonflower! My mind is racing. I wonder what the quality will be like. I wonder how soon it will be available! I'd love to try it out on the printed dolls. And I need to make some labels. And how cool would it be to make little prints for patchwork kits for doll quilts. I've actually got Tim working on some little drawings right now for something else that would be sooo cute as fabric. Arh! I'm going to stalk Spoonflower until they open their doors. hello... are you open yet... hello...
oh, and the shake it pattern. I always wanted to make myself a shake it pillow...
hello....
