Sashiko for Mariko

Apron_1

Apron2_1

I've been dying to try my hand at sashiko embroidery ever since I found a book on it at Mitsuwa. I decided to try out an apron pattern for my amazing accomplice Miss Mariko. (If there is ever a crafting version of The Amazing Race I want her as my partner!) Hopefully this will keep her neat and tidy while she bakes all her yummy goodies.

Today is show your desk day. I have so many small surfaces here and there but no official desk. I could show you my slim computer desk where there's barely a room for a soda, or my messy messy sewing table, or my ironing board which has to multifunction as a project staging area as well as a surface for ironing, but I've decided to show you the 'desk' where I feel I'm spending most of my time lately. Poor Oscar has an ouchy case of diaper rash and this is where we've been hanging out a lot. Now all the non-moms are cringing.

Also...

DIY Trunk Show tomorrow. I'm excited to wow over all the crafty goodness as well as meet in person Giao, Brandy and Cinnamon. And to say hi to Lena, who is Oscar's new girlfriend Chloe's Mom.

Coming soon...a 'wee' gallery. so much cute!

The embroidery is very beautiful! Mitsuwa is on my list of weekend visits for sometime soon.

I showed my desk today too, thanks to your inspiration.

Ack! I am so excited! I am going to be the most stylin' baker this side of the Mississippi! Thank you so much, and of course it was not necessary (see, I can say that because I know you already sent the package. Heh heh). You are really amazingly talented. Hate to fawn, but there you go.

Lovely! Your embroidery is so nice. And I can totally sympathize with your "desk" this week having gone through that myself for the past many years. Sigh. But they are so happy when you let them have a bare bum and you play with them on the changing table.

No comments on the crafts- just for the babe's butt. Get him some Weleda diaper ointment. You'll never use anything else again. Believe me. I'm a mom.

Yay! I get to meet you and maybe the boo-hoo baby to boot.

It's gonna be a crazy day, but I can't wait to meet you.

the apron is fab! and mariko's baked goodies are gorgeous! i'm a baker girl myself, and so i especially appreciate the lovely apron and kitchen confections.

no real desk for me to share (i have to clean up my craft table every night because of the pets) but it's neat seeing everyone else's workspaces.

Ooooooh...if I had known you were getting into sashiko, I would have also sent you some fun sashiko thread (in all kinds of variegated colors, solids, etc.). There are awesome kits, prestamped linens, books...I put this in my amazon wishlist three days ago:
