Last night while watching Project Runway seemed the perfect time to work on my apron for Amy's excellent theme for Tie One On this month - apron from clothes. Tim's closet is full of ill-fitting vintage shirts and one of them was begging to be sacrified to the cause. Here it is before. And here it is after. I played it all PR style and worked it all out on my dressform first. I cut off the sleeves and the back making it a halter style. And I made some bust darts. (hopefully my model will walk so fast you won't be able to tell they're uneven. oops) I cut off the bottom half of the button band and made it the waistband. My favorite bit is that the bottom button fits through the waistband. The back of the shirt became the skirt and I used fabric from the sleeves to make the ties. A thrifted napkin is sewn into the waistband for hand-wiping. That's it's selling feature. Hopefully it will keep me in the game til next month!
