gnomes and bibs
Cotton laminate dots from Michael Miller and some terrycloth (from jcaroline creative) for bibs. Kim's post clued me in to cotton laminates and I was looking to make some Bend the Rules Sewing bibs for Phoebe so it was perfect. Maybe some pretty new bibs will make me less lazy about feeding Phoebe solids. Oscar was on steak by 5 months but I'm not so anxious about moving along to the next milestone this time around. And yes, Phoebe is 5 months! Time is flying!

You're not being lazy! The AAP's guidelines now recommend you start solids at six months (instead of at four) now, anyway. Hope that helps you feel better about waiting :-)

I love the dots and the gnome - great fabric choices!

The gnome matches the bib laminate perfectly. I was lazy with the spoon feeding and bib thing with Lily. I just wanted her babyhood to last and last.

I love the gnome!! Hmmm maybe Niko Niko Nii-chan deserves some pretty bibs too. This lazy Mama uses flannel nappies doubled over and tied around the neck at meal times... Well the little lady is a little piglet when it comes to eating, slovely is the go...

Several months ago I picked up a *very* useful tip from another sewing blog (perhaps Angry Chicken??) that allows you to *make your own* waterproof-ish fabric. You can purchase an iron on laminate from Jo-Ann's and in two easy steps you iron it on to most any fabric (obviously those that react poorly to ironing are not good choices) and presto! You've got your very own laminated waterproof fabric.
I have used this technique successfully several times~making waterproof tote bags for summer swimming was one of my favorites!
So~passing this along and also a big thank you to whomever originally posted this idea!

The Gnome Rocks!
And cute dotted fabric.
Isn't it funny how you want everything to slow down so much with the second child? That's how I was, anyway.

So hard to believe she's 5 months already! Time really flies by way to fast for me. Love your gnome. I'm sure he'll be up to his usual tricks soon.

I'm giggling because I was the same way with my first and second babies... I couldn't wait to get them in the highchair to start them on that rice cereal and so on. By the time the third one came around, he was still only nursing at five months and the thought of having to take the time to feed him solids was a drag! We got there eventually, of course, but I do think he learned to then self-feed a lot earlier than the other two!
