Christmas bells are ringing

Hey, you're welcome for the pig! I wish I had more time for freebies and tutorials. Heck I wish I had more time for just about everything. Hope pig-making is going well and if anyone has any finished pics I'd love to see them!

Christmas is in full swing at the Lang house now and I'll try to get some festive photos up soon. We've got our trees up and our scenes set and even a little train running. I'm working on new stockings and Tim's got the happy job of going through the one gazillion Christmas card photo possibilities to see if anything will work. Here's a sweet one from the photo shoot...

Today we made our annual trip to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the trains and the trees. An exciting treat this year was the Star Wars exhibit. Oscar was very intrigued and is now sitting watching his first ever Stars Wars movie. We started with The Phantom Menace, not so dark & lots of racing, and he's loving it. "I want this movie to go on forever!" It's going to be hard getting him to bed tonight.

We saw the Star Wars exhibit when it was in Columbus, Ohio and my son loved it!! It's amazing how many facts he knows about those movies!! (if only he'd remember his multiplication tables as easily!) Your photo reminds me of every family photo my Dad took of us growing up-- I think we should do one like it just for old times sake ;)

Oh! I'm so glad you liked the Star Wars exhibit. that's one of our Christmas treats this holiday break.
The pic is great. I always like the ones that turn out as candids rather than poses. They are much sweeter.

One of the few things I wanted this year as a gift was a year's membership to the Carnegie Museums, I got it and I am so very excited about it.

I hope Oscar enjoys Star Wars as much as I did as a kid. :)

The Star Wars phaze. My boy entered this at age 2 and still is obsessed with it at age 8. It's funny to see how much it is a part of his and his friends life. Afterall, we did have Darth Vader be the mascot of the lemonade stand this past summer. If Oscar continues, you will be amazed at how much usless Star Wars information you will gather.

We actually had to put a moratorium on Star Wars play around here last week. When ANY topic you are discussing is quickly and suddenly turned into the reenactment of, narration back of, or making up of new Star Wars scenes, it's time to stop! I was tired of finding light sabers on the stairs and on the kitchen counter so, after a few warnings, they were confiscated. At least for the time being.
Don't get me wrong. Star Wars is cool and all, but when it starts running your life to the point where your eyes glaze over when your children speak to you, certain measures need to be taken!
Sweet, sweet pic that one.

I love hearing about Star Wars and boys- you can't go wrong.
And that little girl is too darn cute!

Your kids are so adorable. I'm sure your Christmas card will be fabulous!

George Lucas knew what he was doing with that Star Wars thing. I was 5 when Episode 4 was released; my son Jack was 3 when Episode 3 was released. The toys... my GOD, the TOYS! Our house is very much an everything Star Wars house. I wish I could see the exhibit at the MSI... used to live in Central IL but now in southern AZ. Much better climate, but fewer awesome museums. Hope you and your family have a fabulous Christmas! Thanks so much for all the Wee Wonderfuls goodness.

My son calls that movie "the phantom lettuce" and we just don't have the heart to tell him the truth.

What a cute little picture!

You might think of getting your new Star Wars fan this pop-up book for XMas:

Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy, by Matthew Reinhart.

I saw it on the Martha Stewart Show last week and it was awesome .. !

Hi Hilary,
Don't we all have pictures of ourselves as kids,
sitting with our siblings on the family sofa?! This picture cracks me up and is so classic - I think it's perfect for your holiday photo! I just may have to copy! I love how the decor will sort of date the photo years from now, and the kids will say, "Mom, remember when the living room used to look like that?"

I love the photo! (the little one's top is so cute!)

My hubby wants to take our little one to Chicago to see all the musuems but then I have to remind him that H is only 18 months old. 'there will be time for that in the future'. (oh and the 1st baseball game was a topic already this year....)

It has been a wee while since I read your blog - hasn't she grown!!

Our family used to take us to see the different Christmas trees every year. Then we would have to check out Paul Bunyan and walk through the giant heart. I have lots of great memories doing this - and I'm sure Oscar and (someday) Pheobe will too!

I just finished my pig, Hilary! There's a pic up on my blog! Thank you so much for the free pattern - you are so absolutely wonderful. I think I may be tackling your snail pattern next!
