overslept
Man, Easter came fast this year! I didn't get to a bunch of stuff I was hoping to... the rest of my moss plans, sewing Phoebe's Easter dress, making baskets, buying just the right basket stuffers, etc. Mother Nature didn't cooperate either with all her blasted snow. So how funny that I should come across this book today at the thrift store. It's about how the Easter Bunny slept right through Easter in his cozy warm burrow because it was raining all day and the sun never came out to wake him up.
After finally be roused sometime in May, the Easter Bunny proceeds to try to horn in on all the other holidays starting by trying to hand out eggs on Mother's Day and eventually ending up at the North Pole hanging with Santa. I'm not going to be that persistent but I am still going ahead with a few missed projects. I still very much want to make a fancy Phoebe dress out of this. And this morning I sewed up one of the three printed dolls I'd made up for Phoebe's basket. I love how she turned out! Thanks Tim for making her all computery. I'll have to do the other two tonight. Do I do everything in 3's?

Hi Hilary, That dolly turned out sweet - did you print her onto the heirloom quilting calico that goes through the printer - I think I recognise her texture? I did this with Emily at Black Apple's Valentines Girls and they were cute as. Being able to print onto fabric sends my imagination into a spin! :-) regards, Lily

Oh, I remember that book! My mother used to read it to me! I loved the Fourth of July eggs the most. I think my copy is buried somewhere in a closet in New Jersey.
And that doll is adorable. I want her so much!

I LOVE that story - so darling! Though, I always had to question why the rabbit kept re-painting the same eggs... weren't they going bad??
Looking forward to the beautiful dress for Phoebe - the fabric you've chosen is absolutely gorgeous!

Darling doll! I was sick and so tired on Easter morning, I literally did sleep through the morning egg hunt. My kids came to wake me up, but (through half closed eyes) I told them to go ahead with it without me! I felt like such a rotten mom later. I'll have to pick up a copy of that book!

Gaah! I hid eggs on a very cold and windy Easter. Every time I turned around, the wind had blown another egg out of hiding! Then I would have to hide it and secure it again. It took a while and I was so glad to go back in the house and warm up.
So ... I had very little sympathy for boys who started out egg greedy but weenied out of the egg hunt early because of the wind. They got warmup breaks, but all the eggs were found.

I know what you mean. Easter snuck up on us too and I didn't get to make the kids things I had wanted. I have a half cut out easter dress in really cute fabric and a few other things. Oh well I figure a late spring dress is ok too.
