all the fashionable girls are wearing moccasins these days

see, how cute!

I'm indulging in a little "just because" sewing this week and then it'll be back to business.  I'll post next week about near future pattern plans. In the meantime I've decided the only way I can justify buying more japanese fabric is to use up some of what I've got so it's time to take a deep breath and start cutting. Miss Kitty's dress is from the wonderful folkiness Jen sent me. And Miss Kitty herself is made from this awesome thick soft cotton flannel I found at the quilt shop called woolies by maywood studio. It was all I could do to not buy every color they had. I may need to go back. Oh, and kitty is a smaller version of Buttercup & Sunshine. I'm trying to do a better job of putting in all the details like I used to... you know before I had all these kids ;)

I can see why you wanted to buy that fabric in every color-it is so great!
Your kitty is perfect, of course!

your cats have always been one of my favorites-and I don't even like cats!!!

I love your kittens too! Is there a pattern coming for them? I would love it! I know, not like you have too much to do already!

Sometimes you just have to do some "just because" projects, or else you'll get burnt out, so good for you.

She is so sweet - I love her! I want a dress like hers...heehee Oh, and that woolies line is great! I work for Nancy's Notions and we are carrying a few of those by the yard and the sweet sixteen pack. Hillary you are my hero!!! I've been loving those cats since I first saw them. I will wait patiently for a pattern (nudge).

Very pretty kitten - she looks purposeful and busy! The fabric is sweet - love the whole Japanese-fabric-but-Scandinavian-look. And you are so right - the detail just adds so much charm and whimsy. (And - do I spy gorgeous Fisher Price vintage doll houses in the background! They look to be in beautiful condition - I have just mine and would love to collect more but they are hard to come by in Australia.)

She's adorable!

And I thought that that print might be too large in scale to work for doll clothes. You proved me wrong! Kitty is perfect. And so is that FP farm house. Oh my, you have a FARM house? Does it still say moooooo when you open the door?

You always do the cutest shoes on your cats! This one is adorable too! I'm feeling old because we wore moccasins (Minnetonka) in college...they were the rage then (1985-89) at least for the cool people. Of which I don't feel like I'm one of anymore. Too bad I don't have them anymore!!!

Everything about this photo is so beautiful: I love the colorful fabric on the kitty, the background toys, the lighting...

Wow! I love this cat. Wonderful! Great job! The dress with the chip chip and the horses is simply fabulous. Congrats!

I love this kitty and I love her shoes... are those tassels I see in the shadows? So cute!

You made me laugh! I literally had just finished reading Jenny's posting about her new moccasins on wikstenmade, and now you're adding to my conviction that I need to buy myself a pair of the economy-conscious Minnetonka suede version! Your kitty is so stylish!

So cute! Fabric is perfect! Love the shoes!

I hope your Mom's Day is swell!

Cute cat but I am distracted by the pristine white shelves housing your vintage Fisher-Price house & barn in the background... Nice.

I love the kitty's dress fabric. The horses look just like Swedish Dala horses!!
